SOLOMOSTRY

Solomostry was born in Milan in 1988, the city where his artistic journey began. Around the early 2000s, he created his first graffiti works, immersing himself in the street art scene. A decisive turning point in his career came in 2007, when he began collaborating with several techno clubs in Milan, creating stage sets that transformed the venues into immersive visual environments. 

These experiences gave birth to the artistic identity of Solomostry as we know it today: one deeply rooted in the night and its visual language. Nocturnal atmospheres became one of the artist’s main sources of inspiration, leading him to portray monstrous and unsettling creatures. 

Solomostry was trained in graphic design and art direction, studies that had a significant impact on his visual approach and the development of his stylistic language.

Art and Poetics

The core of Solomostry’s artistic research is the depiction of monstrous faces and figures, often resembling masks, which serve as visual metaphors for the human inner world. His work explores the full emotional spectrum, rendered through disturbing and powerful imagery. Eyes, a recurring element in his creatures, play a central role: they observe, communicate, and reflect tensions and fears. 

In these representations, the artist investigates the boundary between human and monstrous, suggesting that the two realms are not so far apart. The gestural line—sometimes harsh and instinctive—reinforces this tension, emphasizing the emotional impact of his work.

Style and Visual Language

Solomostry’s visual language is dominated by the power of the line: bold, sharp, or dripping, it becomes the primary expressive tool. His works feature no shading or chiaroscuro; the image is built through contrasts, with flat color fields and the use of vivid, vibrant hues. 

This chromatic choice, combined with compositional simplicity, gives his creations a visual impact that draws from both poster design and urban graffiti culture. Though monstrous, his figures can encapsulate and convey complex human emotions, offering a deep and transversal perspective on contemporary identity.

Technique and Production

After university, Solomostry worked for two years in a screen printing studio—an experience that allowed him to master the technique, which remains a fundamental part of his creative process. The artist personally prints his own screen prints and customizes limited edition garments.

Alongside screen printing, his multidisciplinary practice extends to mural painting and sculpture, using materials such as wood, metal, and ceramics. This variety of technical means reflects a continuous openness to experimentation, while maintaining a formal and thematic consistency that clearly defines Solomostry’s aesthetic universe.
