SHEPARD FAIREY – NATIONAL ACROBAT

The work National Acrobat by artist Shepard Fairey is a silkscreen print on paper belonging to a limited edition of 8, completed by hand and signed in original by the artist.

In this work measuring 31,12 x 31,12 cm, as in all his album covers, Shepard Fairey inserts some musical references, from which his passion for punk-rock music is evident. The title National Acrobat, in fact, clearly recalls a song by Black Sabbath: A National Acrobat, published in December 1973.

The different graphic elements that make up the work give it an idea of movement, as if the sound dimension were manifested through the visual one. A sort of optical illusion is generated by the repetition of the phrase 'For best results play twice before listening' on the four sides of the rhombus and by the alternating black and white stripes.
