Born in 1985 in Cagliari, Tellas is a visual artist and muralist from Sardinia whose work draws inspiration from the natural impressions and arid landscapes of his homeland. Growing up in Sardinia, he developed from an early age a deep sensitivity to the environment and its forms—elements that would later become central to his artistic vision.
After earning a degree in Visual Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, he came into contact with the world of urban art and began experimenting with visual languages that merge painterly gestures with close observation of nature.
The experience of his native land, characterized by dry landscapes, spontaneous vegetation, and a strong cultural identity, remains the poetic and symbolic foundation of all his artistic production.
Artistic Style and Poetics
Tellas’s work is an intimate and meditative reinterpretation of the natural landscape, where forms, textures, and colors become expressions of balance and harmony between human beings and the environment. His floral and vegetal motifs, recurring both on canvas and in murals, do not depict nature descriptively but evoke its essence, translating the visual memory of the places he encounters into marks and textures.
His creative process is based on a deep listening to space: each work is conceived as a dialogue with its surroundings, a poetic gesture that transforms walls, surfaces, and environments into organic maps of lines and tones. His stroke is delicate, almost calligraphic, and his palette alternates between earthy and natural tones and vivid, luminous hues, maintaining a continuous balance between structure and fluidity.
Tellas is an eclectic artist: beyond painting, he explores various media such as drawing, installation, printmaking, and audio-video production, constantly expanding the boundaries of his visual language.
Projects and Recognition
Tellas has gained international attention through a number of significant exhibitions and festivals.
In 2013, he participated in La Tour Paris Project, followed the next year by the first Artmossphere Street Art Biennale in Moscow. In 2015, Graffiti Art Magazine listed him among the 100 best emerging artists worldwide, and in the same year he took part in the 56th Venice Biennale with the project Becoming Marni.
Since 2019, Tellas has collaborated with The Jaunt, an international platform promoting large-scale outdoor projects and exhibitions, showing his works in San Francisco and Amsterdam. His murals can be found in cities around the world, including Rome, Palermo, Atlanta, Delhi, Montreal, and Kaohsiung.
Collaborations and Other Projects
Alongside his artistic activity, Tellas has established notable collaborations with historic Italian fashion brands, including Ferragamo and Marni.
With the latter, he has created several projects that merge art, design, and visual experimentation, including A Grande Terra do Sertão, a documentary presented at the 56th Venice Art Biennale. These experiences highlight the versatility of his language and his ability to engage with diverse creative fields while maintaining a consistent connection with nature and the organic aesthetic that defines his poetics.
