Shepard Fairey, street artist known all over the world, was born in Charleston, South Carolina in 1970. His artistic career began in 1989 with the sticker campaign 'André the Giant has a posse', during which he wallpapered the city of Providence with the face of wrestler André the Giant. Obey achieved international success in 2008 with his iconic portrait of Barack Obama, Hope, which became a true symbol of the American presidential campaign.
Through his works Shepard Fairey offers the viewer critical reflections on challenging issues: from war to climate change, from social injustice to gender equality.
